Captain’s Log 15 August 2010-We Get By With a Little Help From Our Friends!

Ronnie MAF-Uganda working on the Brakes – Great job Ronnie

Our MAF-EDRC program Caravan was due for a Phase Inspection all last week so Cher and I flew it over to Uganda.   We do our maintenance at the MAF-Uganda hangar at Kajjansi.  There was so much work that it would have been discouraging even thinking of how we would get it done if it had just been Stan and me.  But the first morning we were there, sitting around the table where we had our morning “quiet time”, Kees, the head of maintenance, said, “Well, I will do your autopilot coupling inspection.  Mark, you are very good with the Pitot/Static check and transponder.  And Ronnie and Martijn, can you help out with the phase inspection?”

It was great!  Even though they are under no obligation to help us, everyone seemed to join in joyously, sharing the load, and we were able to get things done that we have wanted to do for a long time.  The guys even came in on a holiday to help!  It was still a lot of work and Stan and I finished the last little bit on Saturday, but we were SO encouraged by our helpful friends.  I would like to publicly say:  “Thanks you so much.  We couldn’t have done it without you!”
