Captain’s Log – 21 October 2012 – Elephants in the Garden

Some elephant bulls like the ones that hung around our camp at Fothergill Island.  These are actually around the corner near Tashinga not far away.  The one on the right is the Chura bull.  His tusks were right at 100 lbs. a side.  about 2 feet of them are in the water!  Andy Searle, the warden of Matusadonna NP,  was driving the boat when I took this shot.

There is a new story, post, on the “Wildlife and Hunting” page from days at Fothergill Island on Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe.  Hope you enjoy it.  It was interesting living it.  As always, I love your comments.

Just read your “Elephants in the Garden” post in Wildlife & Hunting, and the last bit made me laugh out-loud. I’m still laughing.
