True Tales

Life brings with it experiences that enrich, gladden the heart, lead to maturity, promote wisdom and strengthen you for what is ahead.  It is often harder than we could have ever dreamed and yet we seem to get through.  The things that feel the worst at the time are usually the ones that lead to the best adventures, take us the furthest down those paths that build the character in us that we cherish later and eventually make the best stories.  Sometimes you have the ability to choose these paths like Robert Frost says.  Sometimes they are chosen for you against your will.  But your attitude along the way is always in your hands.

As I look back, I see events I did not always like at the time they were happening, turn into, at the least, some very good stories.  At best, building blocks in my life that have shaped who I am.  I have put a few stories down here for your enjoyment. A better man might include the lesson learned.  You will probably have to draw some of those conclusions for yourself.

    Jon,
I remember your recounting one of these stories in Mozambique. Your writing is excellent but I hold your personal rendition as a special moment.

      Hey Gill,
Great to hear from you. I was just telling someone about how nice nylon burns through your skin and your experience. You have also given me some stories to tell. All good memories of you my friend

Has Lu shared the book “The Sex Lives of Cannibals” with you yet? There’s some great bits about how the people on the atoll would go shark hunting. Very funny stuff.

I want to hear about how your plane ended up on the bottom of the trench!

I will try to get that story up soon. A few people are asking. We have now read “The Sex lives of Cannibals” and loved it. Lots of stories that sparked stories of our own in the same settings. thanks for the recommendation.
